What is Microblading?
Microblading is a process in which pigment is deposited into the superficial dermis of the skin with a disposable microblade to create, crisp hair strokes which look like natural eyebrow hair.
Microblading is a less invasive form of permanent makeup and is ideal for anyone wanting to enhance the look of their eyebrows.
How long does it last?
Microblading tends to last between 18-36 months and after this period of time may need a color boost or refresh.
Does the process hurt?
The process does require a topical anesthetic which can be re applied throughout the procedure making it relatively painless.
What is the difference between a tattoo and microblading?
Microblading is a manual procedure in which the color is deposited closer to the surface of the skin, rather than when a machine is used with a tattoo, penetrating deeper layers which can leave spilling’s underneath the skins surface.
What should I expect during the healing process?
Once the healing of the skin starts taking place, the skin will look flakey or dry. This might give you the impression that the color pigment is fading too quickly, however, this is just superficial color and dry skin being naturally removed from your eyebrows. Once completely healed, always apply a layer of sunscreen SPF 30 up to SPF 50 onto your eyebrows when exposed to the sun. Sun exposure may cause the pigment to fade more quickly.
There is no downtime for microblading, and your new set of brows will be ready immediately after the process.
Microblading is generally a 2 step process. Initially your new brows appear darker, but will fade significantly over a 2 week period. It is highly recommended to have a touch up done, as it is difficult to predict how well the skin will retain the pigment.
***For best results it is recommended that you get your regular eyebrow waxing or tinting a week before your appointment.
Pre and Post Care Microblading Information
Microblading is NOT recommended for any clients who are/have:
· Pregnant or nursing
· Undergoing Chemotherapy (consult your doctor)
· Viral infections and/or diseases
· A Pacemaker or major heart problems
· Skin irritations or Psoriasis near the treated area (rashes, sunburn, acne, etc.)
· Prone to Keloids
· Is using Accutane or any acne medications within the past 6 months
Please be advised that eyebrow technicians are NOT cosmetic surgeons. The realistic goal is not to create perfect symmetry, but to make a moderate improvement to enhance the facial characteristics which are already present. The technician has to follow your natural eyebrow contour. Please remember that no two eyebrows are ever truly identical
-The skin must be free of all irritations including ingrown hairs, blemishes, eczema, and psoriasis.
-No alcohol or caffeine 24-hours before application, this will minimize any oozing or swelling after the procedure.
-Do not exercise for 24-hours before the procedure as the body heat expands the pores.
-No intentional tanning 2-weeks prior to application.
-If you get a sunburn on your face, you must allow at least 4-weeks for it to heal.
-Do not take Aspirin, Advil, Aleeve, Niacin, Vitamin E or Ibuprofen up to 48 hours before application.
-Do not take fish oil for 2-weeks prior to application.
-No Botox 2-weeks prior to your application and 3 weeks after.
-No chemical peels, microdermabrasion, or facials for 4-weeks prior to application.
-No Accutane for 1 year prior to application.
-No Antibiotics or anything that could “thin your blood" for 30 days prior to appointment.
-You must be off any acne medications, Retin-A or Retinols for 2 weeks prior to your appointment and avoid using on or around the area for 30 days after. If used before 30 days, it can cause the pigments to fade prematurely. If you resume the Retin-A or Retinols after the 30 days, please know that the continued use will fade your permanent makeup prematurely
-Have your regular brow waxing or tinting done one week before application.
-Microblading cannot be preformed if you are pregnant or nursing
-You will be more sensitive during the application if you have fibromyalgia or are on your menstrual cycle
You can choose to wear your makeup as usual so we can get an idea of where your comfort zone is with color and shape
